If an SPF record is not used, the receiving email service is more likely to mark the email you send as spam. However, if an SPF record is used, the receiving email service can verify (to a limited extent) that the email is coming from a trusted server – not from a spammer’s server. DNS Records

Domain’s DNS records (i.e., zone records) are instructions in the domain’s DNS server that provide information about the domain – for example, which IP address or hostname is associated with a domain or subdomain, and how email traffic is routed.

| If you are only using the services provided by Avaruus.net with your domain, you do not need to make any changes to the DNS records. If you are distributing services elsewhere, you will make the necessary changes to the records according to the instructions of the third party.

Making Changes to Records

All changes are made on the Oma Avaruus control panel. If you do not know what changes need to be made to the records, please request instructions from the party requesting the changes to be made.

Log in to Oma Avaruus.
Go from the main menu to the Domains section and select your domain from the dropdown menu.
Select the Zone Records tab and you will see all the domain’s zone records listed on the tab.

Adding a Record

Press the Add New Record button.
Enter the record type and the other information for the record and save.

Editing a Record

If the record is locked, first unlock it by pressing the lock icon.
You can edit the target value directly into the field or edit all the values by pressing the pencil icon.

To use Avaruus.net’s provided SMTP server for sending emails, follow these instructions:

First, enable the SMTP server for each email account in the Oma Avaruus control panel by following these steps:

Select Settings -> Email from the left-hand menu.
Choose your email account and click Edit.
In the opened window, click Sending.
Check the box next to “Enable SMTP Server (Authenticating SMTP Server)”.
Save the settings.

Once you have enabled the SMTP server, use the following outgoing mail settings in your email program:

SMTP Server: smtp.avaruus.net
Port: 465
Protocol: SSL/TLS
SSL Connection: ON
Authentication Method: “Normal Password”
Username: (your full email address)
